The minute a wedding is announced, there is a sudden flurry of activity and everyone from the house maid to the driver starts to make plans for your wedding. But one thing is for sure; weddings are unashamedly expensive affairs, and unless you are a movie actor or very rich or very lucky, you’ll have to define a wedding budget and make sure you don’t miss anything.
Fortunately, one thing you don’t have to compromise on is wedding favors! Of course, wedding favors aren’t really that big a deal, as they as are often made out to be. The catering, the music, the venue decoration all deserve substantial amount of your time. These are things that may make or break your wedding function. Wedding favors are positioned way back on the list of most important things. It sure feels like that though, since they are one of the simplest ways to say ‘thank you’ to your guests for attending your wedding. Leaving them for last, doesn’t seem right after all.
Escape this mindset now! Wedding favors are very important and a unique expression of your appreciation for your friends and guests. Don’t throw money at something that means very little to you or your guests. Make an effort to buy a unique and useful wedding favor that actually MATTERS. Sure, if you want to be like several other newlyweds, you can probably pick up some standard trinket. Or, you could be different and spend time and effort to choose a wedding favor that would really make a difference to your guests as well as be useful for them. From pretty key chains to exquisite handcrafted ‘happiness’ candles, to favor boxes, to wine pourers, photo frames, scented soaps, bottle stoppers…the list of wedding favor choices is exhausting.
Once you have chosen the wedding favor for your wedding reception, don’t be in a hurry to splash you and your partner’s name across it. In fact, avoid doing that! Instead, make the effort to write a short and creative ‘thank you’ note and leave it in the wedding favor box. That way, when your guests open their gift, they will not only get your hand written note, but also feel appreciated. You’ll have said a lot with just a few lines, and the favor will leave a deep imprint on their mind.
We hope that you will be able to devote some more time to choosing the best and most appropriate wedding favors for your wedding. These may not make or break your wedding, but you will definitely feel good when you guests like these favors. It’s time to sit back and think hard about your friends and guests and what they may like in a wedding gift, or what is the best thing that can convey your feelings of appreciation, gratitude and unconditional support?
It may be hard to come up with one single thing that can appeal to all, but try to make the effort. After all, it’s the thought that counts…
